New
Union School is situated north of Manchester on Highway 53 between the
communities of Manchester and Woodbury, Tennessee. Our town of Manchester
is located approximately halfway between Nashville and Chattanooga, Tennessee on
Interstate 24. There are four interstate exits at Manchester and easy
access to New Union Elementary can be achieved by talking the 110 exit and
traveling North toward Woodbury.
Our
school serves a rural community that has been steadily growing over the years as
small industry and businesses are attracted to our centrally and conveniently
located town. Arnold Air Force base is just a few miles down interstate 24
from us, providing work and educational opportunities for our citizens as well.
New
Union Elementary is positioned on a gently rolling landscape. Little
Duck River runs through and around Manchester with many little creeks and
streams feeding into it. We are surrounded by lakes of various sizes such
as Bedford Lake, Toliver Lake, Fire Lake, and Normandy Lake, which possesses a
dam and new fish hatchery.
Monteagle,
a steep little landform, is our neighbor also. It provides a
spectacular view reminiscent of the great Smokey Mountains.
We have variety in our climate and enjoy all of the four seasons, yet our
winters remain relatively mild in temperature and precipitation. Generally,
any severe weather is not of long duration.
The New
Union school area is fortunate in its natural resources. The region
provides abundant supplies of water, good soil, animals, and trees. It is
a pleasant and flourishing area. Incomes,
lifestyles, and education of middle class families are reflected in the New
Union Community.
