Read-To-Me Week

In 1999, we had a special Read-To-Me Week
to honor Dr. Seuss's Birthday.  We invited
guests associated with the school to read to
the children.  Some of those volunteers can
be seen in the pictures below.

Superintendent Bobby Cummins read
his favorite children's book to the
younger children in the Library story corner.

Our School Board Representative is Kathy
Norton.  She takes a very active part in the
activities at Jones by attending programs, reading
to children, coming to PTO and Christmas
programs, and supporting the school during
special events such as SAC's accreditation.
Her four children have all attended Jones.
She read a story to the older children from the
Brer Rabbit Collection called "The Tar Baby".

After reading Brer Rabbit, Mrs. Norton
donated the book to our Jones Library.

Lane Curlee, mayor of Tullahoma, shared his
favorite book with the older children

One of our most active parent-volunteers
is Cindy Richards.  She has served as
PTO president, worked in the last
five Fall Festivals, filled in as cook,
gone on field trips, and helped
individual teachers with projects.
She read to the older children during
Read-to-Me week.

Ann Cline, a staff writer for The Tullahoma News
and longtime friend of Jones, read a modern-day
fable to the older children.

Mrs. Dice, our custodian at the time,
read her favorite story to the children.

Officer "Tank", who was our DARE
instructor for three years, read a story
to the younger children.

Mr. Ham, former custodian at Jones, shared his
favorite story with the children.
