Back to the Past

When the sixth grade was still at Jones, Mrs. Belvin's students
painted life-sized "Mummy Cases" during their study of
Egyptian life (and death).

When the sixth grade moved to the Coffee County
Middle School, Mrs. Belvin changed to fifth grade.
The curriculum now included American history.
Mrs. Belvin switched to life-sized Colonial people.
Paul Revere (and his horse) are on the left.

Anita Royster was our Special Education teacher
for eight years.  She was Jones's 1998 Teacher of
the Year.  In the fall of 1999, she was moved to
New Union Elementary to serve in Special Ed there.
We miss her friendly smile and the wonderful way
in which she worked with her exceptional students.

In 1989, the Railroad Museum had just
opened in downtown Manchester.  The fifth
graders were invited to give their puppet
plays for a special  Saturday children's program.

The year was 1985.  We made muppets and sang:
"Why Are There So Many Songs About Rainbows?"

"Dr. B" came from M.T.S.U. and read to the children.
