class participated in what began as a small project by Mrs.Cheatham. Her longtime membership in the Mary Tom Berry Reading Council and her interest in promoting reading prompted her to begin book writing with her students eighteen years ago. She has participated regularly in the contest since that time, and other teachers have joined in over the years. During January of 2000, all of the classes could be seen writing, pasting, and sewing their unique creations. Mrs. Cheatham graciously assisted teachers in learning the fundamentals, by giving out both advice and dental floss. In the spring of 1998, Mrs. Cheatham was presented a plaque by the Coffee County Board of Education in recognition of her efforts toward promoting literacy. We thank her for coordinating this very large endeavor. |
