If your child must be absent, please make an effort to come by the school to get your child's homework or call to get it sent through another family member or neighbor.  This keeps the student from getting too far behind.

Remember, YOU MUST send a note when your child is absent.  Please make sure the note contains your child's first and last name, the reason your child was absent, the date of the absence, and my name.  These notes are sent to the office for Mrs. Suzi's approval and this information helps them out a great deal.

If your child wakes up in the morning and is not feeling well but starts feeling better later in the day...please go ahead and bring your child to school.  If you have to make an appointment for your child, try to make it after school hours.  If you can not do this, please be conscious of your child’s schedule and miss the least amount of instruction time.  Please try to avoid checking your child out if at all possible.  Also remember, many sicknesses are not contagious unless there is a fever.  If your child is not contagious, it is usually okay to send him/her to school.

School starts at 7:45 a.m.  Granted your child will not be counted late until 8:00 a.m., by 8:00 the other children have organized their day and started working.  If you do not get your child to school until 8:00 or after, you are costing your child valuable organizational time.  Thus, your child's entire day will not go as well.  PLEASE, HAVE YOUR CHILD AT SCHOOL AT 7:45 EACH DAY!!

At this time in your child's life you are teaching him/her many things.  By showing the importance of being at school and ON TIME you are showing them valuable work ethic.

Perfect Attendance Awards are given at the end of the year!!!!!  This would be a great honor for your child.

Please read the Attendance Policy approved by the Coffee County Board of Education.

Homework

We try to do spelling, english, math, and reading every day.  Usually your child will have assignments in 2-3 subjects each day; however, I give quite a bit of time in class to complete any work that has been assigned. If students use their time wisely, they will not have assignments to do over the weekend.

I do expect all assignments to be completed and ready to hand in by 8:00 a.m. on the day the work is due.

Students who have three late assignments during a one week period will be required to stay after school in detention for 1 hour.

Homework
Folder

Each Monday your child will bring home a homework folder for you to look at.  Please take the time to look at each paper and sign the folder in the space provided.  It should be brought back signed on Tuesday.  You will also find a late assignment sheet.  I will fill this out and let you know of any assignments that your child did not turn in on time.  Please make sure that if your child does not show you his/her folder each Monday, ask for it and discuss the papers inside.  Praise your child for good papers and discuss the not-so-good papers.  This will let your child know that school is important to you as well.  It is very important to get your child's homework folder returned on time.  If it is not returned, I can not write this information in it for you to see.

Be sure your child knows that it is important that he/she always does his/her best work!!
