About Me

Hello, my name is Tera Williams.  I have taught fifth grade at Hillsboro Elementary since December 1996.  I will tell you, time does fly when you are having fun!!!

To let you know a little about myself, let's go back in time.  I am originally from a small town in Ohio known as Mentor. However, when I was in third grade, my dad was laid-off and Nissan was opening, so we moved to Tennessee.  We lived in Franklin County for 6 months before we bought a farm in Beechgrove.  My family has lived there ever since.

I graduated from Coffee County Central High in 1992.  Although I did not have any family members that had gone into education, I knew that was exactly what I wanted to do.  So off to MTSU I went.  I graduated in 1996, got married in May 1997, went back to school in August 1997, and graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in July 1999.

As I said before, my parents, James and Judy Johnson, live in Beechgrove.  I have two sisters, Tammie Jernigan and Tina Maples, that live in Murfreesboro.  My husband's parents, Jackie and Emma, and his four brothers (Jason, Kendell, Wendell, and Daryl) all live in the Manchester area.

My husband, Phillip, and I live in Manchester also.  In September 2002, we had our first child, Kaylee Grace, and in April 2005, we had our second daughter Emily Faith.  We also have a much loved family pet, a malti-poo named Shelby. We also have 6 nephews and 7 nieces.

Professionally, I have served on many committees at Hillsboro and for CCBOE.  In 2002-2003 I received the school level and district level Teacher of the Year award.  I have also received the Bridgestone/Firestone grant in 2001 and 2003.  Again, in 2005-2006 I was honored to receive the school level Teacher of the Year Award.  I developed and implemented the Summer Connect Program that works with children bridging gaps between grade levels during the summer.  I have worked with this for three years and feel it has been very successful.  I also do personal tutoring sessions for several children on the side.

As you can see I work very hard; however, when I'm not at school, I enjoy the following activities: Reading, playing on the computer, walking, and playing tennis or racquetball.
