Parent
Information
-
Please have your
child at school before 7:55 a.m. Your child needs to be unpacked
and ready to listen to announcements at 8:00 a.m. When your child enters
the room after 8:00 a.m., it causes a disruption. If your child is tardy
3 times, he/she will go to after-school detention.
-
Money
should be put into
envelopes labeled with the child's name, teacher's name and what it's for.
Your child will be responsible for the money if it is not in an envelope.
-
Snacks:
Please send healthy snacks if possible. Juice drinks or water can also
be brought. Do not send soft drinks or glass bottles. Peel oranges
before sending them to school. NO SUCKERS! The snack needs
to be eaten in 5 minutes, so do not send a large snack or large drink.
-
Birthday
parties: Feel free to
celebrate your child's birthday at school. Cupcakes or cookies and juice
boxes are permissible. Just let me know.
-
Daily Work
folders
should be sent back each
day. Please check folders for notes and homework.
Friday folders will come home each Friday. Take out
all sheets, sign and return the folder on Mondays. Reading Homework folders
will be checked on Tuesdays and Thursdays (practice nightly). Please sign the Daily work folder
and the Friday folder even if I have not marked in them.
-
Spelling
Tests:
Tests are on the last day
of the week. Your child needs to be able to write the words down from
memory. Each word counts 10 points. The bonus word is not counted
wrong. If spelled correctly, the bonus word is worth up to 10
extra points. Letter reversals and capital letters (when not needed)
will count against the grade.
-
AR Books:
Students need to read as
much of the book by themselves as they can. Students will become better
readers with more practice. Each student needs to read every night and
take at least 3 tests each week. Some days we will not have time
to take AR tests. When your child can read the test without help, he/she
will be able to take as many tests as free time will allow.
