Mrs. Bonner received her Associate of Science Degree from Motlow State Community College. She graduated in the top 10 Graduates in 1989. While at Motlow, she was the chair of the geology fund raising program. Mrs. Bonner received the biology award and honors awards from Motlow. She majored in biology and received her Bachelor of Science Degree at Middle Tennessee State University in 1991. Her teaching endorsements include Biology, Chemistry, and General Science. She also has her Master of Science in Teaching (M.S.T.) in biology which she received at Middle Tennessee State University in 2000. She worked as the only student member of the TSAC (Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation) Board of Directors from June 1, 1989 to July 31, 1990 (She was been nominated by Dr. Frank Glass, President of Motlow and appointed by the Honorable Governor Ned R. McWhorter). She currently serves on the Motlow College Alumni and Friends Association Board of Directors for three years (October 2000 to October 2003).
Mrs. Bonner hobbies include bird watching, gardening, admiring and growing wildflowers, hiking, mudding, four-wheeling, watching NASCAR (either at the track or on TV), baseball, basketball, tennis, fishing, traveling, softball, football, surfing on the net, reading a good book, collecting rocks, minerals, and fossils, and collecting books. She has her own private library that is fully heated and air conditioned. The library contains over 2,000 books including encyclopedias, all types of science reference books, all types of literature books, and almost any type of reference book that you might need. The library is masssive.
"I presented a paper to the Tennessee Academy of Sciences in
November of 1998 at Tennessee Tech. at Cookeville entitled 'Herbal Remedies
Among the Melungeons.' That was probaably one of the greatest days
of my life, and I owe much thanks and gratitude to Dr. Thomas Hemmerly
at Middle Tennessee State University for his encouragement and faith
in me to put together the paper. I will be forever grateful
to all of the faculty at Motlow and Middle Tennessee State University for
all of their encouragement and assistance in all of my projects and endeavors."
said Mrs. Bonner. Her abstract for the paper was published
in the Tennessee Academy of Sciences Journal. She served as President
and Vice-President as well as a Building Representative for the Coffee
County Education Association since she began teaching at the high school.
She began her teaching career at Coffee
County CHS in August of 1991 and has been there ever since. In
the past, at the high school, she has taught Ecology and Earth Science
as well as biology and chemistry at the high school.
