Historical Background

In 1963, Coffee County Junior High was built for seventh, eighth, and ninth grades.  The educational facility was built to accommodate the rural students of Coffee County.  Coffee County Junior High School was built approximately in the geographic center of the county to allow equal travel time for all students.  The ninth grade was transferred to the high school at the beginning of the 1990-1991 school year.  This departure made what is now known as Coffee County Middle School, consisting of grades seven and eight.  During the school year 1993-1994 a twenty-one-room addition was constructed to house the incoming sixth grade students and faculty.  In the fall of 1994, the sixth grade became a part of the Coffee County Middle School family.  We were then known as a true “Middle School.”  Coffee County Middle School first became accredited with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as a junior high in 1975, and this status has been maintained ever since.

Our school is located approximately the geographic center of Coffee County.  The school has direct access to Interstate 24, and located directly on State Highway 55.  We receive students from five elementary schools.  These schools are North Coffee Elementary, East Coffee Elementary, New Union Elementary, Hillsboro Elementary, and Hickerson Elementary School.

Coffee County Middle School serves the rural community, and delivers great results.  The school offers diverse programs to enrich the students and prepare them for high school, college, and future career goals.  A quality-learning environment is demanded for our students’ success.
