The Coffee County Board of Education met in regular session on April 11, 2005 at the Coffee County Board of Education.

 

The following members were present:  Allen, Sims, Norton, Walden, Sain, Milburn and

Thornton.

 

A moment of silence was observed in memory of Mr. Barry Shelton, past board member.

I.          Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as written.

 

II.        Upon the recommendation of the Director, motion made by Norton, seconded by

            Walden to approve the FFA State Convention in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on April

            30-May 3, 2005.

 

            Approved unanimously.

 

III.       Upon the recommendation of the Director, motion made by Thornton, seconded                by Sain to approve the following teachers for tenure:

 

                        Coffee County Central High School

                                    Eric Davis

                                    Phyllis Peek

                                    Cindy Hasty

                        Coffee County Middle School

                                    Brad Sanders

                                    Jeff Johnson

                                    Mondale Rogers

IV.       Upon the recommendation of the Director, motion made by Milburn, seconded

            by Sims to increase the mileage from .35 cents to .37 cents effective July 1, 2005.

 

            Approved unanimously.

 

V.        Upon the recommendation of the Director, motion made by Walden, seconded by                         Sims to approve the budget amendments as recommended for IDEA and

            Preschool. (see addendum)

 

            Approved unanimously.

 

VI.       Upon the recommendation of the Director, motion made by Sims, seconded by

            Milburn to approve the  bid for a used truck for band as follows:

VII.     Upon the recommendation of the Director, motion made by Walden, seconded by

            Sims to approve HDH Construction Management for Phase I of the board

approved building program.

 

Approved unanimously.

 

VIII.    Motion made by Sain, seconded by Thornton, to approve the director evaluation instrument as presented by Mr. Allen. 

 

            Approved unanimously.

 

IX.       A work session is scheduled for May 2, 2005 regarding Elementary Basketball and a work session is scheduled for May 19, 2005 for the budget.
